Consumer Deposits
It all starts when the consumer places a container in the reception opening
on the machine. Containers then revolve, are scanned and identified,
before automatically being fed through an aperture where they are compacted
or shredded. This process is explained sequentially, with user
directions displayed on an LCD screen positioned on the main frame of
the machine.
Recognition & Sorting
As the container is scanned and identified, i.e. barcodes being matched
with the on-board database, the computer determines how the container
is to be processed, crushed or shredded. This function reduces container
size, avoid spillages of liquid and minimises any storage/transport capacity
required later.
'Alien' or unrecognised containers/objects (including full containers)
will be rejected on receipt because they are too heavy or not recognised
by the computer/scanner. As a result these objects drop into a compartment
at the base of the machine, where they may be recovered and disposed of
separately.
Receipts & Records
Once all containers have been deposited by the consumer, he/she may then
press a button triggering a receipt which is automatically issued by
the Ecoverter. This print-out shows how many containers, by type,
have been recovered to date and how many have been deposited by this
particular consumer. In addition the database records the weight
of materials recovered and other accurate performance data to support
waste transfer requirements and marketing initiatives. In addition SMARTcard systems may also be incorporated, linking to compatible systems including EPOS and cashless programmes.
Remote Control
The Ecoverter's database is accessible remotely. This permits updates
to programmes, amendments to information and voucher reports, the adding
of new information to bar code data bases and such like.
Reporting Defaults
Our system is also capable of reporting default activity and alert central
control to task engineers to respond in the shortest time possible.
Recovery for Recycling
Once containers are reduced in size they are held in lined bins within
the machine until the computer reports the need to remove and empty them. Materials
are held in heavy duty plastic bags which may be sealed before removal
containing any liquid residue securely, so keeping the immediate area
clean, reducing the likelihood of attracting insects and vermin.
These bags are collected by Recycling Options or their local agents and taken to their dedicated
transfer station before the content is processed further and transported
to recycling plants.
